Olson Wedding

the blog

Haley and Curtis met in college. They both went to Drake University and were set up by a mutual friend to attend a sorority formal together at the end of their sophomore year. They hit it off right away and started dating. After dating for a couple years, Curtis proposed on a family vacation to Iceland. After they ate dinner together, Curtis convinced Haley to go for a walk around the lake with him, despite the cold. As they were walking, Curtis popped the question, and of course, Haley said “yes!”

These two got married at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport. They waited to see each other until the ceremony and I loved seeing Curtis’s reaction as Haley walked down the aisle.

It rained most of the day, but we had a couple dry hours in between the ceremony and reception for pictures. The Figge Art Museum provided a beautiful modern location for the bridal party and bride and groom portraits.

Curtis and Haley’s reception was at the Stardust in downtown Davenport. The industrial and modern look of this venue was just perfect. The Stardust was decorated with gold chairs, gold lanterns as centerpieces, and lots of greenery. My favorite reception detail was the small plants at every seat as wedding favors. I also loved listening to the speeches during the reception. I enjoyed getting to know more about these two through the stories and speeches by their best friends and family members. It’s so clear that these two make a perfect couple and I was so happy to be a small part of their wedding day!
